Objectives of Study:

To determine the effectiveness of the Coping and Parental Competency Intervention on promoting mental well-being and increasing parental competency in parents of preschoolers with special educational needs (SEN).

纳入标准:

纳入标准要求参与者为父母(母亲或父亲),且在研究期间至少有一名学龄前儿童,且该儿童具有至少一种特殊教育需要。

Inclusion criteria

The inclusion criteria require participants to be parents (either mother or father) with at least one child who is in preschool during the study period and has at least one type of special educational need.

将从与圣雅各福群会有相关联的每个中心或幼儿园招募8至10名参与者。采用区组随机分配方法,将每个中心或幼儿园随机分配到实验组或等待名单对照组。区组随机分配程序将由一位独立于圣雅各福群会的研究人员执行。该研究人员将为每个参与的中心或幼儿园生成一个随机数,并按升序排序。第一个编号对应对照组,第二个编号对应实验组,第三个编号再次对应对照组,依此类推。

Randomization Procedure (please state who generates the random number sequence and by what method):

8-10 participants will be recruited from each center or kindergarten associated with St. James Settlement Ltd. A block randomization approach will be adopted, in which each center or kindergarten will be randomly assigned to the experimental group or the wait-list control group. The block randomization procedure will be done by a researcher independent from St. James Settlement Ltd. A random number will be generated and assigned to each of the participated center or kindergarten and sorted in ascending order. The first number will be the control group, the second will be the experimental group, and the third will be the control group again and so on.

Data collection and Management (A standard data collection and management system include a CRF and an electronic data capture:

Participant’s name and basic contact information e.g. phone or email address will be collected for matching case during the data collection period (pre-, post-training and 1-month follow-up questionnaires). Such data will be replaced by a subject code once the data collection is completed. The name or any identifiers collected will not be used in reporting research findings or elsewhere. Participant’s name and basic contact information will be erased 2 years after first publication of the findings. All identifiers will be stored in a password-protected file and saved in a password-protected computer. Only the research team can access this data. Participants are required to fill in a set of online questionnaires before and after the intervention or control period. Each participant will be assigned a subject code, and this data will be erased 5 years after publication of the first paper arising from the research project
