研究目的：

肥胖已成为全球范围的健康问题。随着现代医学对肥胖表型认识的深入，各种肥胖表型在展现优势的同时，也暴露出种种缺陷和不足。探寻新的肥胖表型是近年来的研究热点之一。中医学作为替代医学的杰出代表，对于肥胖有独特的认识。中医“证（候）”能否作为肥胖新的疾病表型？这是本课题的主要研究目的。通过探索肥胖人群的中医证候特征，分析证和肥胖表型的关联，也可以为今后结合两种医学、综合诊治本病提供依据和参考。

Objectives of Study：

Obesity becomes a global health issue. As anti-obesity research progressing, obesity phenotypes turn out to be a complicated system, showing not only advantages but also defects and deficiencies. To explore new integral phenotype is necessary and urgent. As a prominent representative of alternative medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has its own concept and recognition of disease, including obesity. ZHENG (also called syndrome) is its specific tool to recognize and to classify patients,which also can guide treatment. Our hypothesis is that ZHENG can be used as a new obesity phenotype, relating to existing phenotypes. In our study, we intend to explore ZHENG characteristics among obese patients and to associate ZHENG (syndrome element, tongue parameter)to obesity phenotypes (body composition, energy expenditure, etc). Our results are supposed to be potential for anti-obesity treatment integrated by Western Medicine and TCM in the future.

Inclusion criteria

排除标准：

①对中医有反感；②曾经接受中医知识培训；③孕妇；④合并严重肝肾疾病；⑤严重抑郁或者精神疾病未得到控制，无法回答问卷；⑥继发性肥胖（内分泌疾病，基因异常等）；⑦无法完成西医表型的相关检测。

Exclusion criteria：

1. rejecting Traditional Chinese Medicine;
2. knowledged by Traditional Chinese Medicine;
3. pregnant women;
4. complicated with severe liver or kidney disease;
5. suffering depression or mental illness out of control, unable to finish the questionnaire;
6. secondary obesity (endocrine disease, genetic, etc.);
7. unable to complete some measurements.
