研究目的：

The present study aimed to determine whether MI could improve the performance of activities of daily living (BI and IADLs) and enhance motivation for rehabilitation among first-stroke patients. It is hoped that stroke patients will actively learn to be independent with regard to daily activities and participate in rehabilitation to reduce the risk of stroke recurrence.  

Objectives of Study：

The present study aimed to determine whether MI could improve the performance of activities of daily living (BI and IADLs) and enhance motivation for rehabilitation among first-stroke patients. It is hoped that stroke patients will actively learn to be independent with regard to daily activities and participate in rehabilitation to reduce the risk of stroke recurrence.

Inclusion criteria

排除标准：

Patient with history of depression or nervous system diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease, psychiatric disease, and multiple sclerosis, previous treatment with a psychiatric or clinical psychology intervention, and inability to participate in questionnaire interviews.

Results: Although the BI and IADLs scores significantly improved with time in both the experimental and control groups, there were no differences between the groups. Conversely, the generalized estimating equation approach showed that at 6 weeks and 3 months after the intervention, the rehabilitation motivation scores in the experimental group were respectively 3.10 and 2.54 points higher than those in the control group, with significant differences.
