Objectives of Study：

To investigate the effects of combining virtual reality technology with the Peace of Mind Card in death education for geriatric ward nurses by constructing immersive virtual death scenarios that simulate real-world ward environments.

纳入标准：

Inclusion criteria

排除标准：

1.过去6个月内参加过死亡教育培训/安宁疗护培训； 2.研究期间缺勤的护士（休产假、病假、外出进修或学习等）； 3.规培护士、实习护士； 4.VR晕动症； 5.由于各种原因不能完成本研究死亡教育培训的护士。

Exclusion criteria：

1. Participation in death education training or palliative care training within the past 6 months; 2. Nurses absent during the study period (e.g., on maternity leave, sick leave, external advanced training or academic studies); 3. Standardized training nurses and student nurses; 4. VR motion sickness; 5. Nurses who are unable to complete the death education training of this study due to various reasons.

先运用虚拟现实设备观看虚拟老年病房临终场景，观看完毕后，研究者向参与者介绍安心卡的功能。引导参与者从方块、梅花、红桃、黑桃中各选 3 张表示临终愿望的卡片，也可挑选大小王卡，共 12 张，按重要程度排列后选出最重要的 3 张，并引导分享原因，研究者仅提供情感支持，不做评判。

Intervention：

The procedure is as follows: First, participants will don the virtual reality (VR) headset to view an end-of-life scenario set in a simulated geriatric ward. Upon completion, the researcher will introduce the functions of the Peace of Heart to Heart Card deck. Participants will then be guided to select three cards from each of the four suits (Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts, and Spades) that represent their end-of-life wishes. They may also choose to include the Joker cards. From this total set of 12 selected cards, they will rank them by importance and ultimately identify the three most significant ones. The researcher will then facilitate a session where participants share their reasons for these choices, providing emotional support throughout and refraining from any judgment.

Intervention：

First, participants will read a case study about a deceased patient in a geriatric ward. Subsequently, the researcher will introduce the functions of the Peace of Mind Card deck. Participants are then guided to select three cards from each suit (Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts, and Spades) that represent their end-of-life wishes; the Joker cards are also optional. This results in a total of 12 cards, which they rank by importance. After selecting the three most important cards, they are facilitated to share their reasons for their choices. The researcher provides only emotional support and abstains from offering judgments throughout this session.

Intervention：

Pre-training Preparation: Participants wear VR headsets 10 minutes prior to the training. After adjusting the devices for a proper fit, VR-proficient technicians provide instruction on equipment usage and assess participants’ adaptability. VR Experience Implementation: Participants assume a comfortable posture to view the VR video content. Equipped with motion sensors, the VR devices enable head-tracking for real-time view adjustment. Built-in speakers ensure an immersive experience while facilitating communication with medical staff. In-training Monitoring: Staff continuously monitor participants’ physical and mental states throughout the training. The session can be promptly paused if any discomfort is reported.
