通过一项为期12个月的整群随机对照试验,比较个性化3D打印髋部保护器与传统髋部保护器在养老院老年人中对使用依从性(接受度与依从性)及髋部损伤风险的影响。  

Objectives of Study:

To examine the effects of customized 3D-printed hip protectors on user compliance (acceptance and adherence) and the risk of hip injury, compared with a conventional hip protector, in older adults in care homes through a 12-month cluster randomized controlled trial.

Inclusion criteria

排除标准:

符合以下情况的老年人将被排除:1. 身体残疾;2. 有皮肤问题(如感染、溃疡);3. 有躁动行为。参与者的功能状态将通过健康记录进行确认。

Exclusion criteria:

Older adults will be excluded if they: 1. are physically disabled; 2. have skin issues (e.g., infection, ulcer); or 3. have agitated behavior. The functional status of participants will be confirmed through health records.

参与的养老机构将被随机分配。一个整群定义为一个养老机构。每个养老机构将招募约28名参与者。10个养老机构将被随机分配至干预组或对照组,每组各5个机构(n=140名参与者)。我们选择整群随机对照试验,因为以整群为单位进行随机化可降低实验污染的可能性,且更便于实施。随机分配将由一位与本研究无关的统计学家完成。

Randomization Procedure (please state who generates the random number sequence and by what method):

Participating care homes will be randomized. A cluster will be defined as a care home. Approximately 28 participants from each care home will be recruited. The 10 care homes will be randomly allocated to either the intervention group or the control group, with five care homes (n = 140 participants) in each group. We chose a cluster randomized controlled trial because randomization at the cluster level reduces the likelihood of experimental contamination and is more convenient to administer. Random allocation will be conducted by a statistician who is independent of this study.

Blinding:

To reduce selection bias, older adults, their family members and care staff will be blinded to the type of intervention that will be provided (i.e., 3D-printed hip protector or conventional hip protector) when requesting informed consent to participate in the study. Furthermore, all assessors of the study outcomes will be blinded to the group allocations. The research assistants will be blinded to the group allocations of the participants. Random allocation will be conducted by a statistician who is independent of this study.

数据采集和管理(说明:数据采集和管理由两部分组成,一为病例记录表(Case Record Form, CRF),二为电子采集和管理系统(Electronic Data Capture, EDC),如ResMan即为一种基于互联网的EDC:

数据将进行去标识化处理,仅保留参与者编号,不包含任何姓名或其他身份信息。所有数据均为保密内容,仅限研究团队内部访问。所有数据将存储于香港中文大学体育生物力学与损伤预防实验室的加密、密码保护数据库中。音频数据及纸质数据将存放于该实验室的上锁文件柜内,以防止未经授权的访问。

Data collection and Management (A standard data collection and management system include a CRF and an electronic data capture:

Data will be de-identified and only include participant IDs. No names or other identities of participants will be shared. All data are confidential and only accessible within the research team. All data will be housed in secure, password-protected databases on computers in the Sports Biomechanics and Injury Prevention laboratory at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Audio data and hard copy data will be stored in a locked file cabinet in the same laboratory to prevent unauthorized access.
