1. 考察接纳与承诺疗法（ACT）对缓解香港老年人孤独感（主要结局）的效果。 2. 考察接纳与承诺疗法（ACT）对香港老年人抑郁症状、生活质量、医疗服务使用情况及心理灵活性（次要结局）的影响。  

Objectives of Study：

1.To examine the effects of ACT on alleviating loneliness (primary outcome) amongst older adults in Hong Kong 2.To examine the effects of ACT on depressive symptoms, quality of life, healthcare utilisation and psychological flexibility (secondary outcomes) amongst older adults in Hong Kong

药物成份或治疗方案详述：

接纳与承诺疗法（ACT）是一种第三代心理治疗方法，将作为干预措施提供给干预组参与者。在干预过程中，将运用隐喻和正念技巧，帮助参与者提升心理灵活性，学会接纳而非回避自身的孤独感，并基于个人价值观采取行动，从而实现更有意义的生活。 

Description for medicine or protocol of treatment in detail：

Acceptance and Commitment therapy, a third-wave psychotherapy, will be the intervention delivered to the intervention group participants. Metaphors and mindfulness techniques will be utilized in the process to facilitate participants to improve psychological flexibility, learn to accept but not avoid their loneliness, and commit actions based on their values and achieve a meaningful life.

Inclusion criteria

排除标准：

1.患有心理疾病； 2.正在接受心理治疗； 3.认知障碍； 4.视力或听力障碍并伴有言语困难，导致无法亲自参加项目。

Exclusion criteria：

1. Suffering psychological illness; 2. Currently on psychological treatment; 3. Cognitive impaired; 4. Visual or hearing impaired with speech difficulties causing the inability to attend the programme in person.

本研究将采用顺序编号、不透明、密封信封（SNOSE）技术进行随机分组：分组信息写在纸上并放入不透明的密封信封中，信封上标有序列号。该程序由干预实施者预先准备。调查员在参与者完成T0基线评估并签署知情同意书后，打开对应的密封信封，并据此将参与者分配至相应组别。

Randomization Procedure (please state who generates the random number sequence and by what method)：

Sequentially numbered, opaque, sealed envelope (SNOSE) technique will be applied, the randomization group is written on a paper and is kept in an opaque sealed envelope. The envelope is labelled with a serial number, the procedure will be prepared by the interventionist. The investigator opens the sealed envelope once the patient completed T0 assessment and has consented to participate and then assigns the groups accordingly.

盲法：

考虑到研究性质，无法对参与者和干预实施者进行分配隐藏和盲法，因此结局评估员在数据收集过程中将采用盲法，以尽量减少观察者偏倚（Hrobjartsson 等，2013）。此外，为避免未设盲的干预实施者产生实验者偏倚，干预实施者将对干预过程进行录像。这有助于确保干预实施者根据方案非评判性地实施干预。

Blinding：

Considering allocation concealment and blinding arrangement are not possible for the participants and the interventionist due to the nature of study, the outcome assessor will be blinded during the data collection process to minimize observer bias (Hrobjartsson, et al., 2013). In addition, to avoid experimenter bias committed by the unblinded interventionist, the interventionist will videotape the intervention process. This can help ensure the interventionist delivers the intervention non-judgmentally according to the protocol.
