The objective of the present study is to 1) investigate the acute and chronic pain prevalence and impact among adults in mainland China; 2) determine the preferences of the adults regarding the future digital pain education programme; and 3) understand the interventional strategies employed by adults to alleviate pain.

数据采集和管理（说明：数据采集和管理由两部分组成，一为病例记录表(Case Record Form, CRF)，二为电子采集和管理系统(Electronic Data Capture, EDC)，如ResMan即为一种基于互联网的EDC：

Following ethical approval, the questionnaire, along with an information sheet, will be initially distributed via WeChat to friends and relatives. Participants will be encouraged to share the questionnaire within various WeChat groups. The finalized online questionnaire, will be hosted on the Wenjuanxing platform (http://www.wjx.cn), featuring a QR code for accessibility. Online consent will be obtained, and participants indicating agreement will initiate the survey, ensuring a comprehensive dataset. The questionnaire, designed for exclusive online completion, will guarantee secure data recording on the Wenjuanxing platform. Participation will remain voluntary without financial compensation. Measures will be taken to ensure the confidentiality of data after data collection. 1) Participants’ records (soft copies) will be kept secure through the use of password protected files. 2) The access to the records will be limited to the student investigator, the supervisor, and the co-investigator. All data (research data) will be securely stored for 5 years. The records will be destroyed after the completion date of the study. The soft copies will be permanently deleted from the computer.
