The aim of this study was to develop a digital game-based intervention tool grounded in executive function theory and to evaluate its efficacy in reducing core symptoms among children with clinical and subclinical attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) through an 8-week randomized controlled trial. |

Description for medicine or protocol of treatment in detail: |
The intervention employed in this study is a non-pharmacological digital game-based therapy, rather than a drug intervention, and therefore does not involve any medicinal ingredients. The specific treatment protocol is based on the "Lucky Panda" digital game, designed according to executive function theories. The game consists of three subgames targeting core ADHD deficits: (1) "Jump Color" primarily trains inhibitory control, requiring players to guide a block through color-matching obstacles under changing rules; (2) "Memory Flip Card" targets non-verbal working memory by having players memorize and match hidden patterns to strengthen visuospatial recall; (3) "Push Box" focuses on planning, problem-solving, and behavioral inhibition, requiring players to solve spatial puzzles through sequential moves. The intervention lasts for 8 weeks, with 5 training sessions per week, each approximately 30 minutes in duration (including 20 minutes of gameplay and 10 minutes for instruction reading and breaks). The game features five progressively challenging levels, and the backend system automatically logs training completion; if more than three sessions are missed or incomplete in a week, the system automatically sends a reminder to parents. The entire intervention is conducted in the home environment without requiring professional guidance, achieving a low-cost and highly accessible self-managed training approach. |

Inclusion criteria |
1.Participants meet the subclinical or clinical screening criteria for ADHD on both the Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham Rating Scale (SNAP) and the Conners Abbreviated Symptom Questionnaire (C-ASQ), as rated by parents or teachers. Specifically, the mean score on the 26-item SNAP should be between 1.1 and 1.5 (subclinical) or above 1.5 (clinical), and the total score on the C-ASQ should be above 10 (subclinical) or above 15 (clinical); 2.They are aged between 6 and 12 years (inclusive); 3.The family owns a tablet or smartphone capable of running the game and has a stable internet connection. |

Exclusion criteria: |
1. Currently receiving any form of ADHD treatment, including pharmacological or behavioral interventions; 2. Having comorbid psychiatric disorders such as conduct disorder, autism spectrum disorder, or other psychological disorders; 3. History of cranial injury or confirmed presence of a neurological disorder; 4. Impairments in motor skills or sensory perception that hinder their ability to operate a computer or mobile device; 5. Color blindness or color weakness, which may affect their ability to recognize and complete color-related tasks in the game. |

Blinding: |
This study adopted a single-blind design. The teachers who filled out the C-ASQ, the parents who filled out the SNAP, and the doctors who filled out the CGI-S were all unaware of whether the children belonged to the intervention group or the waitlist control group. Due to the nature of the intervention, the participating children and their parents could not be blinded to the intervention itself (they knew whether they were playing the game or not), but the research team had balanced the expectancy effect as much as possible by informing all families that "eventually all would receive the game". |
