近期研究表明,性与性别少数群体有着更高的心理健康风险。而该群体面临的精神卫生问题似乎很大程度上与耻辱感或性骚扰等相关。性与性别少数群体压力模型描述了性与性别少数群体受到的压力与他们健康状况的关系。根据少数群体压力模型,性与性别少数群体由于遭受污名、歧视、偏见以及内化恐同等压力而承受着相当的心理健康风险,例如抑郁、焦虑、物质滥用等。 心理教育项目是一种常见的干预手段,它常被用于提高人们对精神疾病的认识,提高年轻人的求助意愿精神卫生服务的潜在障碍包括缺乏时间、偏好自力更生、污名化和无法获得服务。在线的心理教育项目具有更高的灵活性,并可以接触到更多的被试。 目前已有证据显示教育小册子,自愿筛选和学校教育计划对寻求帮助的影响,也有研究采取随机对照试验检验抑郁症信息网站、电子卡片和漫画视频对青少年的抑郁的影响,但此类研究通常没有采用随机对照研究方法,无法真正确认干预方式本身所具有的干预效果。 此外,很少有研究将线上心理教育的干预方案应用于性与性别少数群体,这也加剧了性与性别少数群体存在较高的心理健康风险却无法得到有效帮助。为填补这一空白,本项目组通过科学的手段,设计并开发了一项包括视频干预、小组讨论和资源包三种干预技术在内的综合心理干预项目,旨在帮助性与性别少数人群加深对自我心理健康状况的认识,减少因心理问题寻求帮助的阻碍,提高寻求帮助的意愿和行为。 |

Objectives of Study: |
Recent research shows that sexual and gender minority groups face higher risks of mental health issues, which seems, to a large extent, related to societal stigmatization on daily occasions. The sexual and gender minority stress model describes both the pressure that the sexual and gender minority individuals experience on a daily basis, as well as the relationship between such pressure and their mental health conditions. According to the minority stress model, as a result of the pressure rising from societal stigmatization, discrimination, prejudice, and internalized homo/bi/transphobia, the susceptibility of the sexual and gender minority community is higher regarding a certain amount of mental health risks, such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, when comparing to the cis-heterosexual community. Psychoeducation is a common and prevalently utilized form of intervention with the aim to promote people's knowledge of mental health problems, to improve young people's help-seeking intention towards mental health services, and to further address the potential barriers. With its higher flexibility, internet-based psychoeducation programs can reach more target audiences in an effective manner. However, few studies have applied the intervention of online psychoeducation to sexual and gender minority groups, which heightens mental health risks of sexual and gender minority groups by not offering effective support. In order to bridge the gap existing in this area of invention, our project has effectively utilized RCTs as our experimental design and developed a comprehensive program consisting of video intervention, group discussion, and mental health resources package, with the aim to deepen sexual and gender minority groups' understanding of their mental health conditions, to reduce their barriers in seeking help for psychological problems, and to promote their help-seeking intentions and behaviours. The other purpose of this study is to examine whether factors such as social support, causal inference, emotion processing and regulation, trauma exposure, personality trait, risk-taking, effective components of treatment are important mediators and moderators in changing help-seeking attitudes and behaviours. |

Description for medicine or protocol of treatment in detail: |
The experimental groups: Participants will be assigned to experimental group, each consisting 4-6 people, with the requirement of watching the help-seeking intervention video. After watching the video, researchers will then lead group discussions using structured interview guidelines. Within the next two weeks, participants will be granted to right to freely access and watch the intervention video, and to obtain the sexual and gender minority self-help resource package via an online link. The control groups: The control groups will receive the same procedures as the experimental groups, with differences in video content and group discussions' topic. Factors such as time length and structure of the intervention remain unchanged as control variables, but the video content will not be related to mental health help-seeking or any other possible influencing factors. Participants in the control groups will also be able to obtain the sexual and gender minority self-help resource package via an online link. |

Blinding: |
The current study is a single-blind study, with the intention of not disclosing to participants whether they are part of the experimental or control group. Both the experimental and control groups will go through the same enrollment and experimental procedures, during which all participants will be informed that this study is related to the mental health of sexual and gender minority groups. Participants in both experimental and control groups will be shown videos, with the only difference in video content. The video content in the control condition enters on psychoeducation while not contain any information related to the video in the experimental condition. The aforementioned procedures ensure participants will be prevented from knowing their actual group assignment and, hence, biases are also avoided. |

This study is an online randomized control experiment and, therefore, does not require hard copies of the case report forms (CRFs). CRFs will be created and distributed via a target online digital platform. Data collection and management will also take place on that platform.
