纳入标准:

1.年龄在11-12岁之间,因为该年龄组在以前的研究中代表性不足; 2.在研究前3个月内没有定期进行课外体育锻炼; 3.没有运动禁忌症; 4.本人及法定监护人知情同意;

Inclusion criteria

1. Age between 11 and 12 years old, as this age group has been underrepresented in previous studies; 2. Did not engage in regular extracurricular physical exercise within the three months prior to the study; 3. No contraindications to exercise; 4. Informed consent from myself and my legal guardian;

排除标准:

1.身体活动禁忌症或限制; 2.急性疾病或运动相关损伤; 3.诊断为精神或心理障碍; 4.先天性或获得性心血管疾病。

Exclusion criteria:

It consists of three progressive stages: Weeks 1-3:30 seconds of work /30 seconds of rest (1:1), target intensity: 75%-80% HRMAX; Weeks 4-6:30 seconds of work /20 seconds of rest (2:1.5), target intensity: 80%-85% HRmax; Weeks 7-8: 40 seconds of work /20 seconds of rest (2:1), target intensity: 85%-88% hrmax. Repeat each training set twice, with sufficient 3-minute rest between each set. For active recovery optimization, perform low-intensity dynamic activities (such as stepping and arm swinging) to keep the heart rate at 50%-60% HRmax during rest intervals. The exercise content includes dynamic movements (such as high knees, lunges and push-ups) and weight resistance exercises (such as dynamic squats, planks and Russian spins). The extracurricular activities every Friday introduce a variety of activities and teamwork elements, including high-intensity exercise and team relay races. The two 11-minute sessions enhance participation through collaborative motivation.

Intervention:

The MICT program consists of the following stages: Weeks 1-2: Basic Rhythm: Simple steps and basic combinations, with the focus on following the rhythm and learning the correct form. Weeks 3-4: Rhythm Changes: Introduce slightly more complex movements (such as alternating opening and closing, squats, and calf raises) and simple arm movements on the basis of basic steps. Weeks 5-8: Integration and Coordination: Combine interesting skill advancement combinations with longer sequences to challenge coordination and memory while maintaining a continuous and steady pace. The MICT program is designed as a continuous and rhythmic aerobic cycle, accompanied by music. Throughout the process, maintain a stable and moderate pace to keep the heart rate within the target range of 65% to 75% HRmax. Each 30-minute training session consists of five 6-minute cycles. It includes a 4-minute aerobic exercise, during which participants constantly perform some simple and rhythmic exercises, such as jogging in place, rope skipping, low-impact jumping jacks, high knees and kicks, as the basis for maintaining heart rate. They also include a 2-minute strength and conditioning module, in which participants do weight training at a brisk pace, combining strength with cardiovascular training, such as pulse squats, lunges with torso rotations, push-ups, side lunges with taps and sit-ups. Over an 8-week period, this routine has continuously evolved to maintain its challenge and fun, and to focus on coordination and complexity rather than being more difficult or faster. The extracurricular activities every Friday have been adjusted to incorporate teamwork elements and task-oriented challenges into a 30-minute fitness run. During this period, participants collect leaves of specified colors and solve arithmetic problems, thereby enhancing the engagement of the experience.

Randomization Procedure (please state who generates the random number sequence and by what method):

This study was conducted from September to November 2022 at a public middle school in China. A cluster randomized controlled trial design was employed to evaluate and compare the changes in the participants after they participated in one of two intervention trainings (MICT or HIFT) or the control training. Using a random number table generated by SPSS software, 3 of 16 seventh-grade natural classes (a total of 90 students) were randomly selected as the study sample. These three classes were then randomly assigned at the class level to one of three groups—the HIFT, MICT, and control groups—with 30 students in each group. To minimize inter-group contamination (i.e., students from different groups sharing training content) and align with class-based administrative and teaching logistics, randomization was conducted at the class level rather than at the individual level. This cluster randomization approach is more feasible for school-based interventions and demonstrates higher ecological validity . To address potential biases associated with cluster assignment, safeguards including double-blind execution, by which neither the students nor data analysts knew group allocations, and unified standardized training for all intervention teachers were implemented.
