Objectives of Study：

To investigate the effects and mechanisms of low-frequency transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation on common chronic diseases in older adults

药物成份或治疗方案详述：

 

Description for medicine or protocol of treatment in detail：

 

纳入标准：

1）年龄在60~80岁之间； 2）同时患有两种及以上慢性疾病（原发性高血压、2型糖尿病、高脂血症）至少1年； 3）临床症状稳定； 4）能够遵循3步指令； 5）签署知情同意书。

Inclusion criteria

1) aged between 60 and 80 years; 2) with the coexistence of three chronic conditions (EH, T2DM, and hyperlipidemia) at least 1 year; 3) medically stable; 4) able to follow 3-step commands; 5) signed an informed consent form.

排除标准：

1）存在电刺激治疗的禁忌症，如佩戴心脏起搏器、金属植入物、既往癫痫、肿瘤病史等； 2） 除常规使用控制慢性病的药物外，在过去2个月内使用其他影响血压、血糖和/或血脂的药物（如糖皮质激素、中枢神经系统抑制剂等）； 3） 存在严重的认知或言语障碍； 4） 存在其他影响血压、血糖和/或血脂的严重疾病； 5） 在过去两个月内参与了另一项临床试验。

Exclusion criteria：

1) contraindications to electrical stimulation therapy, such as wearing a cardiac pacemaker, metal implants, scars, bruises, scratches or inflammation on the skin of treatment area, a previous history of epilepsy, tumor, etc; 2) except the routine pharmacy to control the multiple chronic conditions, use of other pharmacy that affect blood pressure, blood sugar, and/or lipids in the previous 2 months (glucocorticoids, central nervous system inhibitors, etc.); 3) severe cognitive or speech impairment; 4) other serious illnesses that influenced blood pressure, blood sugar, and/or lipids; 5) participation in another clinical trial within the past two months.

参与者坐在舒适的椅子上。清洁皮肤后，接受低频TENS治疗（KD-2A，耀阳康达电子仪器有限公司，中国北京）。将5 x 5 cm的自粘电极片一片放置于第一和第二掌骨背侧，另一片放置于同侧桡骨近端肌腹上，双上肢均放置。刺激参数为：模式：连续；波形：双向非对称方波；脉冲宽度：200 μs；频率：2 Hz。根据患者的感觉调整刺激强度（mA），可允许轻微的肌肉收缩，但避免出现疼痛或任何不适。

Intervention：

Participants were sitting in a comfortable chair. After cleaning the skin, Lo-TENS therapy (KD-2A, Yaoyang Kangda Electronic Instrument Co., Ltd, Beijing, China) was performed. One 5 X 5 cm self-adhesive electrode plate was placed on the dorsal side of the first and second metacarpal bones, while the other electrode plate on the muscle belly of proximal radius, both upper limbs were placed. The stimulation parameters were: mode, continuous; waveform, bidirectional asymmetric square wave; pulse width 200 μs; frequency 2 Hz. The stimulation intensity (mA) was adjusted according to the patient’s sensation, slight muscle contraction was allowed, but pain or any discomfort was avoided.
